First Lady to be Keynote Speaker at Commencement
The Washington Bureau of the McClatchy reports that First Lady Michelle Obama is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at University of California (UC) Merced. UC Merced is the newest addition to the prestigious University of California school system. According to its website, this branch of the system is dedicated to education and public service, which is the perfect backdrop to a commencement address by the First Lady.
“Preparations for the University of California at Merced’s 2009 graduation are in overdrive, with about a month before first lady Michelle Obama delivers the keynote address to the university’s inaugural class.”
As expected, interest in scoring tickets to this event has sky-rocketed.
“Interest in the ceremony has grown so staggeringly that a phone number listed on the UC Merced Web site for student tickets had to be rerouted from the chancellor’s office to the main switchboard.”
Despite our economic challenges and bleak job market, I am sure that the First Lady will empart knowledge and encouragement to UC Merced’s graduating class of 2009. Posted by Bridgette of www.trailblazer-firstlady.blogspot.com.
