I do not care what y’all say, I’m still not down with the whole “Lets throw a bee hive on the south lawn.” Thing. As you know moi has been following First Lady Michelle Obama’s gardening efforts. I was taken aback when Mrs. Obama told school children she was installing a bee hive along with the garden. We have previously covered the numerous times I was stung by bees as a child, on the foot, multiple times in my fingers ( yes, I shouldn’t have been trying to “catch” then, but that’s not the point) I got stung in the eye by a dirt diver. Needless to say, I don’t like bees.

Well anywhoo, the First Lady has harvested her first crop of honey and its getting rave reviews:

The first beehive has finally produced some honey, and we hear it tastes and looks splendid. First beekeeper Charlie Brandts tells us that it has a hint of citrus, a sweet local trait, and that the first honey pull totaled 43 pounds. But don’t look for it at the supermarket. Most will be used by the White House chefs, and some may go out as gifts. Washington Whispers

SO send your requests for the White House honey in today :)

For those of you following my  multiple failures  at indoor gardening, you will be happy to know that today I had my first harvest.

Oh yes I did. I snapped off a sprig of cilantro and it actually tasted like cilantro form the store just better. It was really good and I really thought about ripping it all out of the pot and making some fish tacos, but I couldn’t bring myself to decimate the plant I’ve worked 4 months to grow! HAHA I kill myself to garden and then I don’t want to eat the plants :)
