United States Most Famous President is Changing the World

Welcome Time.com Readers – We’re Didactic and Loving it!- Another Black Hair Fetish Article

Oops we did it again. You never know which one of the many pithy quotes we offer up here weekly at Michelle Obama Watch is going to be picked up by mainstream media, therefore, we should ( and by “we” I mean “I”) should probably not post things written after 9:00PM. I think they completely lost the intended sarcasm and took me literally or maybe I lost the intended sarcasm and meant what I said literally. I don’t know, read the original post called “Our Michelle Obama Watch Words of the Day “Bobby Pin” & “Up Do” and now Time.com:

When the First Lady attended a country-music event in July without a single strand of hair falling below her jawline, the blogosphere exploded with outbursts ranging from adoration to vitriol. Things settled down only when her deputy press secretary clarified that there had been no First Haircut. In the aftermath, a didactic post on MichelleObamaWatch.com proclaimed that anyone “familiar with the amazing versatility of black hair” would have known that the new summer look was simply “pinned up.” Time.com

Once again someone has decided to do ANOTHER. FREAKING. ARTICLE about First Lady Michelle Obama’s hair. MAKE. IT STOOOOOOP! Plueez no more hair articles or investigations. I am so sick and tired of Black women’s hair being treated as some type of exotic alien life form. It’s hair. The First Lady’s hair is hair. Her arms are arms. All the other body parts are just body parts. Her clothes are clothes. Why all this fetishsizing of Black women’s body parts? She pinned her hair up, big whoop. And yet, almost a month later, somebody is writing about it.

Why not do a story about mothers who supplement their child’s education with life lessons during summer break. We haven’t seen nearly enough of those? Why not do a story about how little Black girls feel watching Sasha and Malia grow up in the White House? I would LOVE to read those interviews. WOuldn’t y’all love to know what’s going on in the minds of little girls right now having watched the weeMichelles go from Paris to the Grand Canyon this summer? Where’s the article about that? Maybe I need to pitch that article myself or it will NEVER get written.

But WHY oh WHY are we still talking about the First Lady’s hair? That was the point of my post which was quoted in Time.
