Michelle Obama says Chicago crime wave should not derail White House IOC campaign
In a growing wave of media attention First lady Michelle Obama did may be the smartest thing she could do to tone down the media frenzy that began brewing Monday before she left Tuesday night for Copenhagen, it surrounded the fact that a young Chicago student was beaten to death by a gang of teenagers. She was asked point bank by a reporter during a White House briefing she held whether the recent Chicago crime wave would take the shine off of the U.S. bid to the IOC for the Chicago 2016 Olympics. The question was real and it was an important one, with President Barack Obama also attending the IOC meetings many believe that a failed bid for the Chicago 2016 Olympics could carry over into the continuing health care debate. The media would have a field day.
